- Cut and markCut the outer fabric with the grain along the selvedge; mark the pocket positions, the casing line and the notches. Fuse interfacing to the placket, the collar and the pocket flaps.
- YokesSew the back yoke to the back and the front yokes to the fronts. Press the seams towards the yoke and topstitch.
- Portfolio pocketsSew the gusset round the sides and bottom of each pocket, fold it in half and topstitch the folds. Sew the pockets to the fronts. Make the flaps, turn them and sew them above the pockets.
- Breast zip pocketMark the slanted opening, sew a zip window with a facing, set the zip behind it and close a pocket bag behind.
- Shoulders and sleevesSew the shoulder seams. Set the sleeves in flat, matching the notches, and topstitch the armhole seam.
- Side seamsSew the side seam and the sleeve underarm seam in one.
- CasingMake two eyelets at the front ends of the casing line. Sew the casing strips to the inside along the waist line, thread the drawstring through and stitch it at the centre back.
- Zip and placketSew the separating zip to the front edges. Make the storm placket, sew it to the right front over the zip and set the snaps.
- Hood and collarSew the hood together and hem its face edge. Sew the collar, sandwich the hood between the collar and its lining and sew it to the neckline.
- Cuffs and hemFold the pleats at the sleeve ends, sew on the cuffs. Turn up and stitch the hem.
