- Cut and markCut every piece with the grain arrow along the selvedge. Mark the notches, the dart points and the pocket placement with chalk or a short snip into the allowance.
- InterfacingFuse light interfacing to before sewing anything.
- DartsSew each dart from the wide end to the point, the last stitches right on the fold. Tie the threads at the point. Press bust darts downwards and waist darts towards the centre.
- ShouldersSew the front to the back at the shoulders. Neaten and press the seams towards the back.
- Wrap frontsSew each bodice front to its skirt front at the waist, matching the side seams and the darts. Narrow-hem the front edges of the skirt.
- TiesFold each tie in half lengthwise, sew the long edge and one end, turn and press. Baste one tie to the end of each front at the waist. Leave a 2 cm gap in the right side seam at the waist for the inner tie to pass through.

- Waist seamPin the skirt to the bodice matching the side seams, the centres and the darts, and sew. Neaten the seam and press it up towards the bodice.
- SleevesSew the underarm seam of each sleeve. Run a row of long stitches round the cap. Pin the sleeve into the armhole, single notch to the front, double notch to the back, the top to the shoulder seam, ease the cap in and sew with the sleeve on top.
- HemNeaten the raw edge, turn up the hem and stitch it. Hem the sleeves the same way.
