How to sew9 steps
  1. Cut and markCut every piece with the grain arrow parallel to the selvedge. Transfer the notches and the marks with tailor's chalk or a short snip into the seam allowance.
  2. Set up for stretchUse a ballpoint or stretch needle and a narrow zigzag or the stretch stitch, or an overlocker. Seams in knit must stretch with the fabric.
  3. PocketsMake the pockets and flaps and set them on the fronts while the pieces are flat.
  4. ShouldersSew the shoulder seams; stabilise them with clear elastic or a strip of tape so they do not stretch.
  5. HoodSew the hood centre seam, finish the face edge and sew the hood to the neckline.
  6. SleevesSew the sleeves into the open armholes flat, stretching nothing.
  7. Side seamsSew the side seams and the sleeve underarm seams in one line, from the hem to the sleeve end.
  8. CuffsJoin the cuffs into rings, fold and sew them to the sleeve ends.
  9. Hem bandJoin the band into a ring and sew it to the hem, stretching it evenly.
